Liam Wood and WSL Team SA Head to the Philippines

6th of January, 2026 – Liam Wood and Team SA Head to the Philippines

We’re Off 🇿🇦🔥

What a special African crew representing the World Surf League contingent from the African Series. Connor Slijpen, Ben Esterhazy, Emily Jenkinson, and Anastasia Venter are set to take on the world’s best — competing against the top four surfers from each leading WSL nation for the coveted world titles.

With three days of preparation upon arrival in La Union, Philippines, the team is settling into an incredible location known for its perfect right-hand point break and world-class waves. The food, culture, and hospitality in the Philippines have already made this an unforgettable experience.

The lineup is stacked with elite international talent, and the standard is nothing short of world-class. We’re beyond excited to get the crew focused, fired up, and ready for an epic showdown.

A huge thank you to the WSL for hosting an unforgettable opening function at one of the most spectacular venues we’ve experienced. Big waves so far, plenty of laughter — but now it’s time for serious preparation as the team pushes toward bringing that WSL trophy back home.
